Machnamh is essentially a large rectangle with two slits for armholes and has a lot of designed-in versatility.The piece can be worn in several ways – a long coat version, a shorter hooded vest or with a big cosy collar.

The Fibre Co Arranmore (80% merino wool, 10% cashmere, 10% silk, 160 m (175 yd) per 100g hank) in Corcoran 6 hanks

NEEDLES:
1 pair 6mm (US 10) needles

TENSION/GAUGE:
14 sts and 22 rows to 10 cm (4 in) measured over st st using 6mm (US 10) needles.
14 sts and 24 rows to 10 cm (4 in) in seed stitch pattern using 6mm (US 10) needles.

Machnamh (pronounced Macnah) is the Irish word for reflection, which seemed an appropriate name for this sleeveless waistcoat/vest since it is worked in stocking stitch on one section and reverse stocking stitch on the other – one reflecting the other.
